Callington Ride

An excellent new kid friendly venue with a big safe paddock for kids to ride around – a pity none came – probably holed up inside at home looking at the rain, which did not venture over the range so we had cold cloudy conditions to ride in with no dust & no overheating. Keep it in mind for the kids next year eh?

Most of the adults stayed home too, as above plus lots of rides lately. Anyway we THREE riders had a great ride. Simon did a great job of stringing all the back roads in the area together including a lot I hadn’t seen before despite lots of looking over the years & Richard gave the 525 a final run in before he gives it full throttle when he has all the proper riding gear soon. He even managed to fall off on a steep slippery hill track but no dramas. Of course I rode past him to give him the incentive to RIDE ON BRISKLY. We took in lots of excellent scenery sights in the area with many horse properties scattered throughout them thar hills. We made it to Strath for an early lunch at the popular THE GARAGE & the thirsty bike fuelled up just to make sure.

Train Robbers Enduro

My enduro season from hell continues.

Keith and I drove separately to this race because he needed to be there early enough for his son to ride the kid’s mini enduro. From the Dallas area Bismark AR is about 5 hours drive time and I arrived about 4:00pm Saturday afternoon. Keith’s dad had a nice camp site all cleared out and ready for us and we were one of the fortunate ones to have some good shade as the temps were in the low to mid 90’s and humid. The dust in the camping area was bad but the trails looked to be pretty good. Conditions for the next day looked promising. To help us out even more we were assigned to row 9 which meant we’d get to take advantage of the cool morning air for the first loop at least.

Flinders Camp

Team green & yellow DRZ drove up when the night was dark & stormy. The weather cleared well before we got to camp to be greeted by hordes (well 17 bikes in camp after a few other late arrivals). We all caught up around the campfire as usual with JP still bellowing in the dark when most of us went to bed & left the late stayers to it.

The morning gave cloudy cool weather with finer conditions in sight for a perfect day’s riding. Lots of red bikes & orange bikes with a few other colours thrown in to make 15 riders, with Jeff & young son hanging near camp taking advantage of the kid friendly venue.

Roonya Ride

17 eager riders lined up on a fine & warm winter’s day! 5 new members were champing at the bit – were they in for an initiation or what! Another sea of yellow as is becoming the norm lately, 1 VERY new.

1 with a new battery needed a push, maybe the cheapy $80 battery is not as good as the $180 genuine! We hit the tracks while Stoney drove backup to the luncheon rendevous with jerries & bbq & food.

The aforesaid newy with Ian aboard tasted the sand three times that I know of & twice that I saw, giving both bike & rider a sand initiation without any damage.

After a fair bit of railway track track with a choice of about 4 tracks as usual we turned south & headed for some “new

Racing the Champ

I’m not an industry insider. Like 99% of the fans who stand in the mud next to the fence at Unadilla, High Point, and South Wick cheering for Ricky Carmichael and eating over-priced hot dogs at the same time, this is probably the closest I’m ever going to come to a factory ride. All I know of the sport is what I read in magazines and see on the sporadic coverage cable television affords the sport of motocross. All I know of riding comes from the YZ 125 in my garage, and for a guy who’s thirty-two-years-old, stands over six feet tall, and weighs over two hundred pounds, the fact that I still ride a one-twenty-five should speak for itself.

CRF450X Review at Dirtbikeworld

Drew has had the opportunity to ride the new CRF450X.

Its about time that Honda got its act together. This can only be good for us punters, as the big companies fight for our dollars.

Was Drew impressed? Click below and see!

Comments

Unfortunately, I've had to change the policy of allowing anyone to anonymously comment on content on this site.

This is primarily due to Casio spammers posting thousands of comments over the last week or so. Most of them are removed automatically, or manually by myself.

Unfortunately, once again its the minority who will affect the majority in a negative way.

Assist us, and other websites by simply saying NO to online gambling. Maybe they'll eventually get the message.

Pine Hill Enduro Ride Report

Short version:

Lots of fun, no (bad) crashes, trophy (in the mail).

Long version:

I rode two enduros 15+ years ago, but I knew nothing and did poorly. Then I got sidetracked with other stuff and didn't ride off road much. Since getting into riding off road a little bit more seriously in the last couple of years, I've been wanting to do another enduro, but for one reason or another just never got around to it. I finally got around to it this past Sunday (5/1) at the Pine Hill Enduro in New Jersey. This was essentially my first enduro, and certainly the first one where I went in with some idea how timekeeping worked.

Southern Districts Ride 1/5/05

Spent Sat arvo pulling a WR250 motor had to come out due to excessive end float at the flywheel, noticed when checking the dodgy rivets which WRs have (have you checked yours?). So I took it to the ride for guru Paul to have a go at in time for Lameroo in a coupla weeks.

15 riders & 14 bikes fronted amid a sea of yellow (5 DRZs, lets try for a record at my ride in 3 weeks boys-green will be accepted).

Tears on the Trail

Utah is one of my favorite places on this planet. There's no mistaking where you are when you're there. I'm still undecided on the whole "God" thing, but I'm pretty certain that if there is one, he/she probably lives in Utah most of the year.

I've been dreaming of returning to Utah since I returned from there on May 3rd of last year. And I've been pissed off about taking the bail-out in 5MOH since I did it on April 30th, 2004. And even *more* pissed off in light of what took place in Hell this year...more on that later. And yes, the date *is* etched in my memory. So, when we left for Utah this year on Friday April 15th, I had high hopes and was firmly set on completing the unfinished business of the year before. As you might have guessed by now, it never happened.
