After almost 2 years without a single ride, the Husky is about to receive some love.
Last time I rode the beast, I had a small high side incident which tweaked the Tomaselli bars just enough to be annoying. Rode it again next day, but definitely time for a new set.
I was in my local dirtbike store - Tucker Motorcycles - killing time while my ute had some tyres changed, and as I need a new set of bars, I had a look at what they had in stock.
They had a set of Tag T2 Fatbars (Black) in stock, a set of adaptors for the Husky standard size bar mounts my '05 model has, bar ends (Gold) but no Full Waffle grips.
There was like 10 different Half waffle ones, but what is it with the half waffle ones?, I don't get it, how do you know the right position. I've never been a fan of the half waffles, and while I was almost tempted to go for a non waffle style, I just don't think they'd grip as well.
So I asked the friendly staff (Hi Clyde & Sharon) to get in a set of Pro Taper Full waffle grips, and they should be in later this week.
I had the Tag Fatbar with almost the exactly the same setup on the '02 Yamaha WR250F that I had before, and loved the change that it made to the riding position on the bike, as well as the toughness of the fatbar. There are plenty of stories/shots about that elsewhere on this site.
The adaptors add about 20mm height to the bars, which I found excellent for stand up riding, so I'm looking forward to the Husky having a little extra height to the bars as well. It hasn't really been a problem, but the Husky handles so much better that the WR did already, it will be interesting to see what sort of difference it makes.
