I have a 2002 Honda XR100 with the same problem. I cleaned out the carburetor with kerosine, then soap and water and dried it with compressed air but this still did not solve the problem. I have a crf230, crf70, and also an XR50 that run perfectly. I have seen a lot of posts on other sites about idle speed issues on the XR100. I am going to speculate and say it is a design flaw in the carburetor itself. I am going to break down and take it to the shop next weekend and will let you know what the technicians tell me. After a weekend of frustration it will be worth $125.00 to put an end to the mystery.
