When i start my dirtbike it over revs right away with no throttle, it jsut about revs to max then shuts down, the throttles routed correctly and is fine, what could be the prob?
Yep without knowing what bike youve got i reckon youve got a suzuki rm rmx or an late 90's to 02' cr.The problem youve got is very common and stems from the cylinder. You see the way these top ends were designed is that when the motor is siting all the fuel totaly goes to the bottom of the crank. Then when you start the bike theres no fuel in the main root from carb to cylinder to ensure good air fuel mixture so the bike sounds like its running lean. But never fear cause the fuel is there ,in the bottom of the crank. This extra fuel is what fires the motor then it runs out before the fuel from the carb gets to the cylinder.I've found that before i start my bike 00'RM 250 i hold finger on the kill switch for about seven to eight kicks then with full choke start the bike.Sometimes the bike still revs to the roof but a quick release of the choke and this should fix the problem. Hope this comes in handy as it seems to have been the way with my bike .See ya
