2005 WR250 Clutch plates sticking. Any Ideas?

Clutch plates sticking on this unit making it difficult to get into first gear when stopped. Have checked the cable adjustment and the free play seems good. We tried two different weights of oil and have pulled the clutch apart 3 times but cannot see anything unusual. Has anyone seen this problem before and found a cure?

i think i know ur probiblem f

i think i know ur probiblem first did u buy that bike used? because if ur clutch is sticking when trying to shift ur problem would be ur clutch basket. how it happens when i had my ttr- 125 one time i didnt pull in my cluch to shift what happens is your gears grind. wen u dont pull in your clutch so if u bought it used the people before u must of not pulled in the clutch enough. now it takes more than once for ur situwation to happn. but what u have to do is but a whole new clutch basket and go a little in ur engine i dont know the details right now but ill give u some tips and directions, on how to check that, but hey that mite not be the probilyem. but ill put some more post on to help u.

k so shiftin without the clut

k so shiftin without the clutch doesnt really do any thing bad your dogs in yur transmission are made to take that load. just think bout how quick you shift even when u use the clutch. theres still so much momentum that yur dog teeth still take about the same load as shiftin without the clutch. now ne way back to yur prob so yur sayin that you have trouble puttin in first. is this when its runnin and if so is it when its cold. also what is yur prob with it can u not get it in gear or does it pop ot of gear when u put it in. k so im gonna ask a question that might sound stupid to u but yur not tryin to put it in gear while its off cuz the dog teeth arent always lined up and u have to rock the bike back and forth to get them to lock in. Ok so anyway your problem is probaly that being a new clutch and all the plates still have lots of clutch plate meat to them so even when the clutch is pulled in they still are barely rubbin so when the bike is cold the oil is still thicker and doesnt let the plates slip so if let it warm up does it still do that cuz its definately normal for new clutches to do that when they are new mine does. if this isnt yur prob let me kno and give me as many details as possible

also unbeatable racer if yur

also unbeatable racer if yur clutch is stickin from not usin it when u shift then its not the gears that cause it but instead u warp or indent yur basket and then the disks catch or stick on those

u have to get it in first gea

u have to get it in first gear somehow without just jammin it in but after that u dont need the clutch really. all the clutch does is take some of the load off of yur dog teeth but they are huge chunks of hardened steel i personally think they can take it but i still use my clutch. shiftin without a clutch is one of the most argued points and its split 50/50 on who thinks u can or cant. i try to use the clutch as much as i can but sometimes i shift without it. the only thing that can happen is that if for some reason the dog teeth were not lined up they would grind but ive never heard that noise on a dirt bike but if they did grind lots of times then u could have trouble with yur bike poppin out of gear but that would be pretty rare cuz the shift drum would still hold it in gear. so ya the only time u need a clutch is to get started. thats how i do it in my car too i clutch into first and never touch the clutch again till i need to start again never grind either feels better than usin the clutch. its def better for the transmission it saves the synchros and you throw out bearing and by the way im 16.. i didnt want u guys to think im some old guy ramblin on
