Yeah a hell of a lot more things to go wrong in a 4 stroke. Changing oil after ever ride that would sickin me. Right you blow up ur bike $200 euro for the head of a 2 stroke bike $1500 for the head of a 4 stroke if your out working and can aford it all well and good if ur straped for cash 2 stroke. If you have a good concept of mechanics and you understand how to maintain the valve system on a four stroke, then the bike should be reliable. Two strokes are fairly simple to maintain, look at the time it takes to change a piston on a two stroke compared to a four stroke. If you ride hard ( high revs ) there are many more parts in a four stroke that can break, for example - valve seats, guides, shims, cam, cam bearings, cam chain. Any one of these items fail or partially fail and goes undetected could lead to an even bigger failure - costing $$$$$! I bought a two stroke because it is a simple and cheap machine to maintain, considering how much additional work must be carried out on a MX bike ( suspension, brakes and wheels ) it just didn't make sense to me to buy a bike with an over complicated motor.
125 definately
hey i just bought a 2001 yz 125 and all i can say is that it runs better than ne 4 stroke 250 ull see. i got the 2001 because that was yamahas best year for 2 strokes in my opinion. i live in PA so i jetted it. the other thing that a lot of people dont consider is that we ride for fun right and i had a 4 stroke for 2 years and i can honestly tell u if u get a 4 stroke ur gonna get bored nothing compares to hitting that power band and fighting to hold on as ur front tire comes up riding across an open field. i dare some1 to disagree with me there
o i did a couple adustment on mine
yamaha of troy graphics
jet kit
fmf power core 2 header
fmf gold fatty pipe
renthat bars
acerbid guards
and i put in a better grade piston i guess- my dad did that
o and renthal sprokets and an o ring chain
i disagree with you. i have
i disagree with you. i have a yz 125 and i know what its like to have the power your talking about but a 250f has more power than that and everywhere on the powerband, they are so much funner to ride, my frend has an rm-z 250 and it is the fastest bike ive ever riddin funnest to, and he bought it in the spring and hasnt had any trouble yet not even a spark plug
