im new to dirtbikes...i dont know much about them...i have a 2004 crf230 that i ride around...my friend said it might be faster if i take of the airbox vents that are on top of airbox and under the seat but he said there will be more airflow and my bike might be running to (lean) i really didnt understand... he mentioned something about a fuel and air screw on the carburator...what do i need to do in order to to take the vents out and the bike can run fine...

do the airbox modifications and then ride it aroung for like 10 mins and when you get done take out the spark plug and check it. if its white its to lean if its tan your fine. and if you do need to rejet your bike you need to get a bigger main jet and then you need to adjust the clip on the needle and move it down one position on the needle. and you also need to adjust your pilot air screw. just changing one thing on your carb wont fix the problem. you need to adjust it all.
