Langston Leads 13 0f 15 Laps En Route to Victory
ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 4, 2006) – In front of the third sold-out crowd at Angel Stadium this season, Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael, of Tallahassee, Fla., won his third Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross race. Reigning AMA Supercross Lites champion Grant Langston, of Clemont, Fla., won the third and final race at Angel Stadium.
After winning the $1,500 Progressive Direct Holeshot Award, Honda’s Kyle Lewis, of Henderson, Nev., crashed on the opening lap. Carmichael pulled into the lead on lap 1, as Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., started in last place due to a first turn crash.
Stewart remounted and staged a comeback, only to tangle and crash with seven-time supercross champion Jeremy McGrath. Suzuki’s Ivan Tedesco, of Murrieta, Calif., moved into second place on lap 2 but was passed by Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., on lap 12. Reed finished second and Tedesco finished third.
