Sunset Country Ride Report

Well what happened to all you keen trailriders out there. A long weekend and only 5 turn up Well 6 if you count Tom and OK 7 if you count Stoneman who came on the Sunday but without his bike so he cant really be counted as a rider.

Yeah I know it looked bad on the weather report but when there is an opportunity go riding is my motto.

As it turned out the weather was OK with sunshine on the Saturday morning.

Amtra SA Dergholm Ride

We arrived at Rose Neath camping grounds to find John and Yvonne gearing up for a first ride, after setting up their camping gear, and my parents (pit crew) having just finished erecting the camper trailer for me to bunk down in later that night.

After a quick chat, in which John seemed convinced he was going to get rained on, my little family headed off to have tea with my parents, and John and Yvonne headed off on their ride.

Husaberg FE501 and TM250 4T

Australias Cycle Torque magazine has reviews of both these bikes in their latest issue and more.

Briefly from their email promo:

Husaberg FE501 - an awesome beast with more than a touch of uniqueness.

TM250 4T - "Ppphhhaaarrrk!" And he wasn't the only one to gently whisper that sweet word this month.

Pigs on the fly

Well, it was high time to take out the Piglet (Me - XR 250), and the Big Red Pig/BRP (Tim - XR 650) this weekend.

With a scheduled temperature of 29 C though, it was going to be hot. Not that we'd let a small thing like heat get in the way of a good ride!

By the time we'd got our crud all organised, camelbak drinks in backpacks, tools which i had to go back for (if I didn't bring em, it'd be the time i'd need them), and even a first aid kit, it was pushing 10am, and already getting warm.

And they lived to tell about it!

By Steve Green,

180 miles, lots of single track and only got home a few hours ago.

3 KTMs, 1 DRZ, 2 KLRs, and an interloping VTR all met for McBfast at an expeditous hour. Faces, names, and bikes from anonymous web posts and internet rants could be seen at last. Now the electronic and mental to go physical. The ride was on and 6 restless riders and bikes were rarin to go. This was not a "Yahoo list post" but the real McCoy.

Copper Canyon Ride Report

By Jim Bessette.

Starting in January, a couple of other guys and I discussed riding to Copper Canyon. I decided to go, and to ride the KTM (1998 620 RXC).

MODIFICATIONS:

I thought about a number of modifications to make before the trip. Here's what I modified:

  1. Replaced the original tank with the 20 Liter tank.
  2. Replaced the modified Quicksilver carburetor with a 40mm Dellorto. Jetting and set-up took quite some time (this being the first time I ever have messed with a carb other then my R100GS).
