With more and more off-road machines being sold in Peace River, one longtime dirt biker suggests the way to address the ongoing issue of illegal riding in the hills around the town is to set aside trails exclusively for riders.
Chris France, who has biked around Peace River for 26 years, says a designated riding area for dirt bikes would both capitalize on the popularity of the machines and end riding in other areas within Town limits - which is banned by a bylaw.

"The ideal place would be Misery Mountain," says France, a director and past president of the Peace Motocross Association. "You can basically be a novice and ride around fairly safely. It is contained on all sides by highway, and you can send kids up there and they won't get lost."
Misery Mountain, of course, is the bone of contention between the Town and dirt bikers who insist on riding on the south side in defiance of the bylaw.
Town councillor Iris Callioux has pointed out noise, environmental, and safety concerns about bikers in the area.
