Jamie Dobb is convinced his 2003 Motocross GP World Championship campaign is about to take a turn for the better.

Britain's number one off-road racer took eighth place in his first ride on the factory KTM 450cc four-stroke machine in the Austrian Grand Prix at Karntenring.

The 31-year-old former world champion from Oakwood has switched from his 250cc two-stroke machine and seemed immediately at home on the larger bike, gaining his best result since his opening race seventh place in Spain.

"This was the first Grand Prix using a brand new bike so it was going to take me a little bit of time to get familiar with it, despite all the testing we have done," said Dobb.

"I have been riding every day on the 450 in the run up to the GP and I have already lapped faster than I managed on the 250 while practising. It will take a while to get used to the bike, however.
