Honda's mod $$$$$ Woody's mod awsome!!!

I assembled my new X on the tenth . Choked off 4%co out of the box! OK you can do the cam/exhaust/jet mod our boys put in the wrench but why do'nt you just put a headlight on the R . The Regionl boy's , I'm a Serv Director for a Dealer so i have the direct line. WE HAVE NO OTHER SPECS OR MODS TO PERFORM ANY POWER UP'S YET. as per honda do all per the wrench letter . Not me I took the baffle out of the stock muffler , installed a LOW BOY header , cut just the top off the air box defuser just inside the frame instead of pulling the whole air box and removing the entire top. Will get less mud and the intake is open wide enough for my jetting 140main/42s/raise needle one clip (drop clip down one from stock with stk needle) replace leak jet with a 50 for the accel.pump. I use a yamaha part # for the leak jet. Do an idle drop with the mixture set idle speed @ 1700rpm, Then I say hold on tight , she will pull the front wheel in all gears , get rid of the 53 tooth rear sprocket and install a 49 tooth steel . you will be looking for 6th gear that is not there with the stock gearing. I paid $160.00 for the header , a few bucks for jets and I'm done , I installed a skid and aluim. side skids , bark busters and a moose fender bag a speedo/trip enduro computer. Can You SAY WOODS READY < THEY DO"NT CALL ME WOODY FOR NOTHIN! Any one want to ride 300 miles of private forest land trails that we groom all year long? Have to have a permit to ride but I can take 6 bikes in with me and as many people as I want , Anouther day in paradise. Peace on the rails < WOODY WOODSIDE WOODINVILLE WA USA

CRF-250X

Hello Woody,

I bought a CRF-250X, I rode it (bone stock) out at Reiter on the nasties Saturday and loved it. It's FAST in the woods, and lots of low end power it was sweet. As it is it has enough power to wear you out in the roots - I'm sure glad I didn't go the route to convert a 450!

Like your comments I will be interested if you continue to develop. Mine's a little blubbery right off idle, but has substantial low end regardless. Has only 25 miles of Rieter.

I have a little CRF-250X tech detail with regard to cutting the bars on:

ride on!

STOCK IS OK , OPEN IT UP AND LOOK OUT

STOCK RUNS LIKE CRAP TO ME OK FOR OTHERS I GUESS , HONDA DID THEIR BEST TO MAKE IT RUN WITH THE EPA RULES , IF YOU RODE ONE UNCORKED THE DIFFERENCE IS NIGHT AND DAY . REITER TRAILS SUCK . COME ON UP TO CAMP 18 ON SUNDAY AND ENTER THE HARE SCRAMBLE . I PRE-RODE THE COARSE SUNDAY , AS I HAVE A PERMIT FOR THIS AREA . ITS COOL AND FAST AND WELL GROOMED (FOR NOW). CHECK OUT NORTHWEST MOTORCYCLE ASS. WEB SITE FOR BETTER PLACES TO RIDE , AND CHECK OUT OUR EVENT POSTINGS FOR UP COMING EVENTS . HEY A LOCAL XXX RIDER!!! SEE YA ON THE TRAIL!

CRF250X Trany oil

Changed my transmission oil but when I went to the Honda store all they had was a 80W trans oil and not the 10w40 that the owners book recommended. Asked the guy at the desk and he said the 80w is OK. What kind do you all use? Synthetic? With or without Moly

crf 250x vs. cr 125r

im am a huge crf fan and i am getting a crf 250x and i want to know how it compares to a cr125. I have rode a yz450f and i love the feeling of thumpers, plus they smash 2 strokes.

300 miles of groomed trails???

Hey Woody
I own a 98 XR250R and have been waiting to see Honda come out with
a new generation woods weapon. I work in Bothell and live in Issaquah.
I ride with 3 other guys regularly once a month. (XR 600, CRF 450, WRF250). I would be interested in your offer to ride. The area you discribe sounds like some Simpson Timber land down south? Maybe we can hook up some weekend as I would love to check out your new ride.
Let me know, mike.quaranta@caremark.com
Thanks

Where's Woody???

I've been watching the forums for any sign of Woody and any new advise on the CRF250x setup. He's fallen off the map :?

New Models

With the CRF250X model due soon, there is information on the bike already starting to make its way around the internet.

Rick Ramsey has some excellent information on his site [url:1778] about the new CRF250X. You can access it here http://rickramsey.net/CRF250X.htm

It looks like the two 250's are quite a bit different, which explains the delay between them a little.
