Hi,
Im 14 years old, and I ride a TT-R125L. Im getting a TT-R250 soon, but for now I need help with my 125. im a pretty good rider, but theres one thing that I can't do. Wheelie! I keep thinking that I will flip it backwards every time I want to try. Does anyone have any tips on how to wheelie, without flipping ? thx.

Wheelying!
Hi, in the UK there are actually one or two "wheelie" schools!
If you've access to the UK magazine "Superbike" they had a video on how to wheelie earlier this year (2003).
May be visit their web site and see if you can get a copy - if your UK based visit the International Motorcycle Show from the 14th November to see if you can get a copy.
If not the UK Dirt Bike show is on at Stoneleigh (Warks) from the 27th November - you should get some reliable tips from either.
Sorry can't be of more help!

Ok thx i'll try the site, but
Ok thx i'll try the site, but I live in Alaska, United States. But thx again i'll poke around the site.
Theres a trick
And the trick is finding that balance point. I found the best thing was to learn on a BMX when I was a young fella.
Alternatively, if you have access to a smaller bike, try popping it up on the back wheel, and dragging your feet for a bit to get the feel of it once its balanced. An XR50/Z50 is good for this.
However, I can give you one warning about wheelies on the ttr.
It has a bit of torque, and not to much compression, so changing from 2nd to 3rd while on the back wheel can put you on your butt/face on the ground, which was quite a surprise to me when I did it last weekend :-(
I regularly change up through gears on the wr250f, so the little ttr putting me on my butt was a little embarassing :-O
ahright thx, but I dont think
ahright thx, but I dont think im ready for shifting yet hehe. I just wanna know how to kinda boost it up for a minute, to show off when crossing the highway haha ;)
thx again, i'll remember those tips when i get to shifting.
Wheelying help?
Also my 125 doesn't have enough power to bring it up on its own, I have to use the clutch. I just need tips on how much power to give and how fast to let out the clutch.
Thx
Nah, dont use the clutch
Its quite hard to get it right with the clutch. Try going over small bumps to get it in the air at first. Make sure you are sitting back a bit also, not on the front of the seat.
I can wheelie my daughters ttr in 3rd without the clutch but with a bit of a bump, so you should be able to do similar in 2nd at least.
1st is practically useless for wheelies, as you only just get it "up", and then you run out of revs :-)
Oh, another thing, learning to wheelie is a lot easier if you are going uphill, as the resistance of the climb stops you going faster & faster.
Another 2c ;-)
wheelying
What about when there are no bumps? Like on assfault, just a straight away.
Dont practise on asphalt when beginning!!
If you are on the road/asphalt, its not the time to learn to wheelie. Find a paddock where it wont matter if you go over backwards.
On asphalt, if you come off, you are going to be missing skin, even on a little fall, find some more friendly dirt to practise on.
Then you can always make a little bump out of dirt as well ;-)

dont be a wussie and rev it hard then pop the clutch and wheelie
mulisha man
i have a 50 and i practice on that.i just gas it and pull up, i wheely so far

ct90
my ct90 doesent have a clutch and not quite the power 2 wellie on its own how do i do it
run out of revs
hey simon, not that i am the best rider or anything but u sed that ya run out of revs in first...my cousin on the other hand is an awsome rider and wen he is running out of revs he changes gears and so keeps the mono going as long as possible.
Dont Worrie About Clutch
sit right back on the seat and rev it hard and pull up you will get the hang of it :)
Too much power?
:-) Yeah, do that all the time on the 250 with no problems. Tried it on the ttr125 and ended up on my butt! :-O
wheelies
You are going to crash till you learn how. Start bye doing small ones on little bumbs or hills so get to know how the bike will reacted.
thats funny.
thats funny.

Do what he said it's not gona flip unless you put your nuts on the gas cap.

Sit on the very edge of the seat and give it gas it will do a little one.
whats the deal with all the 4
whats the deal with all the 4 strokes..thumpers suck....two strokes come up alot better and faster. any one can wheelie any size bike. you just cant be afraid of going over and you will get the hang of it. were pads b/c you will crash a few times
wheelie tip
instead of dumping the clutch, do 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and slip the clutch. or stand up on the pegs in the correct possition and shift into 2nd gear (AFTER FIRST) at about in med revs, close the throttle, and then at the same time pull the handlebars up while opening the throttle. if you go out of your comfort zone or about to flip over, pull in the clutch and apply the rear brake. when trying to do a wheelie as a beginner KEEP YOUR FOOT OVER THE REAR BRAKE TO APPLY AT A SUDDEN NOTICE TO BRING THE FRONT DOWN.
also it is hard to do a 12 o'clock wheelie on a dirtbike using this technique. since you are standing up, when you get to the 12 o'clock it is hard to control the throttle and get to the rear brake.
if you want to do 12 o'clocks on a dirtbike get a 12 o'clock bar mounted to the subframe
wheelie
i have a xr 200 and i wheelie it by bouncing on the seat no cluth needed
Just my 2 cents.
I am 13 and ride a gutless xr100. I dont use the clutch but end up leaning way forward then jerking backward while you pul up on the bars and open up the throttle. FORGET THE CLUTCH. If you dont use the clutch and just bounce until the front is in the air you shouldn't have to worry about flipping. I can now wheelie almost 1/2 mi on the street or in the dirt until I hit a big bump and it brings the front down. Or if I screw up and over-rev it.
Just my 2 cents

i ride a xr100 2 and agree there gutless and for a wheelie i just find a slight bump or hill and stand up then rev just before you sitdown and if you practice that you will hopefully be able to get them and also its alot easier to do it up a hill
my cousin owns a 02 xr100 and i can pull upto 40 meter wheelies on that but on mine i can only pull about 10 meters sitting down
gas
just ride around in just hold the throtle in half way and hold the clucth in half way to.And let go of the clucth and while you are up just play with the throtle.
wheelies
first do you wheelie sitting or standing? if standing put into first gar, to start with, and push your strong leg down and throw your wait back whilst pulling on the handle bars and then bring your other leg over.
