Honda have finally taken the wraps off their new 250 machine, which comes in both motocross and off road versions.
The off road version also gives a hint as to what the CRF450X will look like i'd say.

Every indication from Honda is that there will not be a CRF450X. They are concerned about reliability with the engine. If you are into off road racing Honda recommends you buy a CRF450 and modify it to suit your needs.

Unfortunatley, this does appear to be the case. If anyone ahs inside info to the contrary, please let us know.
Of course, you have to wonder what they are thinking. KTM are selling EXC's hand over fist, and all the ones used around here do thousands of "trail" miles. A lot largely on the back wheel in about 5th gear!! Yamaha are still selling heaps of WR's, and even Suzukasaki are selling a few.
But KTM's and WR's are largely filling up the XR400 & XR600 places in this club. Cmon honda, get your act together. Even the 250X is taking its time.

the 250r is awesome. I just came off of a 450 and I love this bike. It is a 125 that is easy to ride.

I think its just rumours. However, since they've done all the lighting etc for the 250, doing the same for the 450 should take Honda about .. oh 1/2 an hour.
If they dont realise that they are losing market share to KTM 450/525's then Honda must have their heads in the sand.

I think that if Honda had planned a 450X version, then we would have seen the electric start make its debut on the TRX450R. The small amount of weight would not have made as much difference on the 4 wheeler, so it would have been the place to start the process. Check the web for Japanese races. Honda likes to play with its new toys at home first.

the crf250x is a very very very fast bike! made for say 15 and up
i stepped up from an xr250r to a crf250x and what a step that was, it was practacly a leap. very powerful bike.

i've been reading qiute a lot of honda faq and i've read that honda have detuned the bike from the crf250r and i don't get that, is it so you can stay in gear longer or to prevent it constantly staling whilst on trails, can somone get back to me with some info.
