when i shift from nuetral to first it starts to take off or stalls.when stopping and i pull in clutch it stalls, and if not running and in gear i cant push it by pulling in clutch.yesterday i took the clutch cover off ond everything looked to be fine.this problem started after i broke the clutch cable and replaced it.any ideas or solutions?
o well then it sounds like u dont have yur canle adjusted properly. there is supposed to be the thickness of a dime of play between the handle and the stop of the handle. sorry if that was a little vague. just set the cable so u have a little tiny bit of play when u pull the handle. if this doesnt help let me kno
well did u put a new clutch in? new clutches will sometimes grip even when the clutch is in, making the bike hard to start. if thats not it, then make sure all yur linkage works and the clutch arm (the thing that moves on yur clutch cover) moves a fair distance. if it does then its time to go in. pop the cover and just look for ne thing obvious. theres not that many things that can cause that. so just use common sense and look around. check the gear that pulls on the release lever for the plates, make sure it looks good. check the disks for any obvious problems, like a piece sticking up that might still rub when the clutch is in. sorry i cant be more helpful, just look around in there and you'll find it.
if it hapen when you installed new clutch cable, and was working fine before, then obviusoly it is your cable, and your old one was properly adjusted to the length of THAT cable (old cables will get stretched out and then compensated for) so your new one just isnt set up for right yet. so adjust the clutch lever to tighten away sum play until it disengages correctly, if thats as far as itwill go and still nuthing, then adjust the other end of the cable pulling the clutch arm in, and that should do it
although ive done this kind of thing before i dont recomend it it could end up costin dearly try changin your gear oil first...ive heard this can cause this problem..by stickin the clutch plates together... if u gonna file it an this is yuor only option you need to be precise with each piece otherwise u if u take more off each tooth than any of the other this will apply more pressure on the others an could result in a breakage wich could xcause some shit that u could do with out...id scan ebay for a cheap one....but i u think u good with a file gofor it we never had any problems with my mate 250 kx...a good wat to see if its even put one plate in and see if it touches every tooth on the basket...also lift it up and down to ensure it even from top to bottom too aswell as around......
I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY DAMAGES CAUSED TO YOUR BIKE TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK...GOOD LUCK!!
i hav tried about everything i can think of to do to this bike and nothing has worked so far.i hav rode mx since i was 12 and i am now 26 so i have a good idea of how to fix most stuff but this is baffling me.when i pulled the cover everything looked good and as e result of pulling the cover i had to change oil and that did not help.i use 80-90 weight pennzoil witch i have used in all my bikes.any oil suggestions?this bike is a winter project while i am laid off.it runs great andis extremely fast.i just want to get this clutch fixed befor i move on to the cosmetics.
have you tried putting the bike on a stand and putting it in gear and getting the back tire spinning pretty fast in about second or thrid gear then quickly slam on the rear brake and pull in the clutch at the same time... this snaps the clutch free if the plates ar stickin which could cause the drag your getting... no guarentees but its worth a shot... i had the same problem in my kx 250... i never totaly got rid of it but it got alot better... my oil was all gumed up for runnin in the witer.. the condensation got in the case and made the oil realy thick.... try that though...

that wat i was tryin to say,
that wat i was tryin to say, thickness of a dime play in the lever. no more and no less. but he said that wasnt the prob
are the fins ribbed then
