I'm new to this forum and need some info about replacing the front inner tube on my XR100. (200MY)
The problem I am having is after installing the front tube and riding a short distance, the front tube is damaged at the base of the valve stem where it attaches to the tube. I just put in a new one today and rode about 10 minutes and it is leaking again due to the valve being pulled away from the tube.
I looked at the Honda XR100 owner's manual and it does not give details on intallation. The tire size is 2.5-19 and I installed a tube I got at the Honda dealer today with the size 2.25/2.5-19.
What is causing this problem? The metal valve stem comes with two nuts and I am leaving one nut threaded to the bottom of the tube while I put the tube into the rim/tire. I then thread the second nut on the stem to lock it to the rim after being installed.
Is the problem with the nut installation?
Thanks for your help

How tight are you putting the nut onto the valve?
Tighten ur rim lock tight. Dont tighten ur valve lock as hard as u can, the tube will move a bit and when you have ur valve lock tighten hard this will cause ur tube to rip at the base of the valve. So leave ur valve lock lose. So the lowdown is tighten the tyre clamp full dont tighten ur valve screw full.

well, i always have trouble with pinching it with a crowbar when i instal it, and that can make it leak, are you doing it by hand, on with a machine?
Need help replacing front inner tube
I had this problem - "ONCE", & haven`t had a flat now for 6 years, use Heavy Duty Tubes with a standard tube cut open around the middle & put over the HD Tube. Heaps of Talc Powder - so the tube will slip a bit when cops a hit & I throw away both locknuts (i only use one to hold the valve in place while fitting the tyre) pump up & let down a couple of times, so if a small twist is there it helps release the pressure on it and straightens out the crease. Tighten the Rim Lock last.
It sounds like you are tightening the tube lock nut first & then the tyre is moving around while you are finishing the fit up & tearing the tube around the valve seam.
