This has happened often to our three TTRs. Turns out that the float needle gets stuck to its seat after sitting a while. By tapping the float bowl with a hammer and then waiting a minute for it to refill, they always start after only a kick or two.
i disagree yes certain four strokes suck but what about the new ones sucha s the kx250f or crf450 yeh a ttr125 might suk for a good rider but for a newb there a good learning bike
Well first of all before you say that all 4 strokes suck i want to know what you have that will beat my yamaha 426.
i have had it about two months and can tell you that unless you are riding a hopped up 250 2 stroke youre going to have a hard time keeping up.
Well all i can say for this is to fallow the normal starting process. If the bike has been left alone for a few days u need to use the choke with no throtle and it should go within three kicks. If it doesnt u will have a mechanical problem!
i too have also been having problems starting my 225. im not sure where u live and what kinda temperature u ride at, but ive found that my jet is too small for the low temperature riding ive been doing. you might want to check that out, but i doubt it would be a problem over 60 degrees F
buy new parts
you need to put new crank case seals in this will make it much easyer to start put a new spark plug in as well that will help
New Seals?
Why new seals? It would have done less than 20 hours of riding total.
Is this a common/known problem with the 02 models?
hard start
Do you shut off you gas.If so try leaving it on.

ttr 125 hard start
TTR 125's come pretty lean, this is the main reason. Move the clip to lowest position on the needle for better starting and throttle response.
Well all i can say for this i

Fix for TTR125 hard starting
I fixed a friends ttr125 the other day. I found the starter jet to be plugged. He had been fighting it for a year. Now it starts first kick when cold.
