both r great bikes. ive riddin a cr250 and can tell you there awesome . I preffer the 2 stoke cause i like the sound but honda makes the best 4 strokes around.

They are not almost the same at all. A cr250 is a way better handling bike by far. I have a 02 cr 250 , I also have a 06 crf450. When I got the bike and took it to the track, I rode it around 6 times before jumping back on my 250. The 1st thing that I noticed when riding on the crf was the motor had tons of power. The 2nd thing was the stiff suspension, then the lack of handling around turns,in the air.... Who needs that much power give me a break. as far as the suspension?? great I spent $6700 otd on the bike now I need to get the suspension fixed,? ( by the way I am 5'10 165lbs), so I spoke to a few people about the problem, the bikes ass end pushes u forward, it does not go the way I point it in turns???? They said get a clamp with an offset. So I bought a rg3 top and bottom clamp $450 still sucks.My 02 doesnt have any of these problems.
If u r a slow rider u will feel faster on a bike with more power. What I am saying is races r won in the turns not a striaght away. The 125 class is .5 sec slower than the 250 class, but the 250s r way faster. That is because a guy that knows how to ride can go just as fast on a bike with half the power. I'm not saying the crf 450 is a bad bike it is just not a cr250 by any means. Do ur self a favor and buy a yz 125 and learn to ride before buying a bike that is to big .Coming out of a turn and going fast down a striaght away is not fast.It just feels fast.

i ride a 2005 crf450r and i have a blast doing it so if ur mindset is right its not a huge deal if ur small the suspension can be softend and lowered it just depense on ur crave for adrennaline.

they are almost the same,the cr would be faster on takeoff,but then the crf would eventully pass it at top end
