Listen guys who think that a 2 stroke can beat a 4 stroke. IT WONT! A 2 stroke will only beat a 4 stroke off the line, but in the long run a 4 stroke will haul way more ass than a 2 stroke anyday.

yeah but man, racing wise, if ur not on a 4 stoke ur already starting behind, like racing down at gopher its all sand, on the 125 ur switching gears like fuckin crazy, compared to the 250f's that are goin 3rd into a corner and stil rippin through it like nothing, i have a 125 so i kno wat its like, personally anyone who diagrees with me is going through severe denile (if 125's are so powerfull and great, why are there only 5 people in ur class that are racing them?)
2strokes will blow any 4 stroke off the line but once the 4 stroke gets into high gear it will eventually catch up to the 2 stroke if there is enough time......
dylanmx ur right i have i yz 125 and i use to have a 4 stroke that i could bog down and not have to shift that much, since i got my yz i have to keep shifting A LOT MORE than my 4 stroke, and i have to keep that throttle pulled back, i remeber when i first got it i was at this race track and i was going down this hill into a corner, i was going pretty fast (so i thought back then) so i stopped pulling the throttle in did not shift when i hit the corner my bike died, but it kept on going thanks to the down hill momentim, 2 strokes do that when ur not going fast enough, ive gotten way better than that first time i rode it i keep that throttle back, and shift way more, i also remeber at that race track on my 4 stroke i could go down the same hill doing the same thing as i did on the 2 stroke and the 4 stroke usaully most of the time did not die, but i still like my 125 2 stroke better than my 4 stroke i had a ttr-125 4 stroke so of course the yz is going to be a whole lot better in the power category, but i like the 2 stroke for that reason it tells u that u can go way faster and when to do what, its kinda of hard to explain im just that kind of person. who likes the 2 stroke better than the 4 stroke but do not think im telling u the 4 stroke is bad, cause they have come a long ways, but when i was going down that hill i was talking about and my 2 stroke died i just shifted down and pulled the throttle and it started up while going down thill, i dont know why but it was kinda of humerous to me, at the time

Depends what the rider likes really. Race a enduro and you could be on a 125 racin a 450 or 525 one of the lads i know at the mo is racin a 125 in experts and hes winnin all the 4 strokes. Makes no diff what ever your faster on fourstokes may be smoth but 2 strokes are nippy.
i would like to correct abit on Trent22's comment. 4 strokes also have a higher powerband. as they get close to their rev limiter they still have full power while 2's drop way down. if anyone wants a dyno of truth and u cant find your own let me know and ill prove it to ya

If the same rider were to do a start on a 125 and a 250f the 4 stroke would win hands down due to the low end advantage. And most likely win the entire race. Ive owned 2 and 4 stroke motocross bikes and i can honestly say that even though ive only ridden my 250f about 4 times im already faster and smoother than i was on my 125.

2 strokes are lighter becuase they are more simple with less moving parts. There are no valves to open and close at pricisly the right time becuase there cut into the cilinder head resulting in higher rpms (yea, that fast off the line shit). You don't have to change the oil or have it as a dead weight. and there loud as hell so my bitch can hear me coming.
thats right manufacturers are moving toward 4 stroke becuase of imitions and with all the research they are finally making 4 stroke engines smaller and more powerfull. when there u use lower gears in the low range it compansates
