With the 2005 Supercross series nearly over and the outdoor season just around the corner, it’s conceivable that some teams and riders may have shifted their focus to getting ready for the grueling summer schedule. While Team Honda/Moto XXX is certainly preparing for the rigors of the AMA Nationals, sandbagging the final rounds of Supercross has never been an option and the privateer squad’s performance in Houston, TX should serve as solid proof.

Kyle Lewis is more than just the senior member of Moto XXX. He’s become something of a privateer icon, representing everything that fans love about the working class heroes of motocross. His propensity for beating factory riders and their priceless bikes to the first turn is one of the traits that earned him such status, and he did it again in Houston, claiming the $1500.00 Butterfinger Holeshot prize. After the start, Lewis battled factory riders for the entire 20 laps of the main event. Finishing 9th, he recorded his best finish of the season and now sits 11th in World Supercross points, 18th in the AMA series. Considering the fact that he missed a few rounds due to scary crashes, both Kyle and the team have a lot to be proud of.

RURAL VALLEY -- Shane Beacon hadn't yet learned how to ride a bicycle when he wanted his first dirt bike. His father, Dave Beacon, simply told him he had to learn how to ride a bicycle without training wheels first, thinking that should delay that request for a while.

Husqvarna racing has dominated round 1 of the Supermotard Extreme Qld Championships held at Gladstone’s Formula K Raceway yesterday, winning all three classes and the All Powers Challenge.

With excellent weather, a large crowd, and a well prepared all-bitumen track, conditions were perfect to kick start Husqvarna’s 2005 supermotard campaign. And what better way to do it than with victories in all three
categories – Unlimited, Sport, and Lites.

Last year’s National Champion, Josh McFarlane, continued to stamp his authority in the Unlimited Class onboard his Husqvarna Racing SMR630.

2005 KTM joins the WCS with three riders. Two of them, Thierry von den Bosch and Boris Chambon like in 2004, and the new rider Bernd Hiemer, who rode for Husqvarna last year.

After a redesign of the offroadpart, the riders rode the second free practice on a "new" track without the speedway part.

Once more the S2 qualifying session was tough. Unfortunately Boris Chambon couldn’t push like he wants to and got only the fifth time.

Totaly different at the S1 class: Thierry van den Bosch played with his opponents all the time and grabed the pole position with a strong advantage of more than a second! Hiemer wasn’t satisfied with position four. "I have to push more harder in the race tomorrow" he said after the time practice.

This weekend I was at Vitoria, just 50km west from where I live. Friday I quit work one hour early, went to the motorcycle trailer rental place to pick a three rail trailer, loaded bikes and stuff and went to Vitoria. Checked in the little motel (US$20 for the weekend) and went to subscribe for the race. I have an enduro computer which can be programmed, but the (des)organization of the race have a notebook equiped with a cable that connects to the enduro computer and can be used to transfer the program, so, instead of being awake late at night to input 50 pages of programming, I handed my enduro computer... This was the first mistake of the weekend...

19-year-old Blake Hore made the trip north to Raymond Terrace, just outside Newcastle NSW, over the weekend (Apr 23-24) to compete in the debut of the Yamaha National Offroad Series. Promoters, Dirtbike promotions had done a great job of providing the competitors with a great circuit an a professional looking event.

The Christensens Motorcycles backed rider had a weekend of ups and downs but for the most part the ups far outweighed the downs. Taking his Yamaha WR450F to a 16th in Saturdays opening round and 6th on Sunday's second round, Blake was up beat and pleased with how he performed over the two days.
